The International Monetary Fund has given a strong blow to the government for raising wages. The executive significantly increased salaries for MPs, ministers, but also for the administration. But for IMF experts, this could ruin the country's economy.
A team of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), headed by Mrs. Anke Weber made a visit to Albania during June 13-19, to discuss the latest macroeconomic developments, the economic forecast and priority policies. The IMF issued a statement on its visit.
The IMF points out that the increase in the budget for public sector salaries risks increasing inflation.
" We support the authorities' commitment to achieving a non-negative primary balance in 2023, one year ahead of the deadline set in the Organic Budget Law (LOB). Aiming for a primary surplus of 1.5 percent in 2024 will help quickly recreate fiscal space and ensure resilience to future shocks. This approach will also reduce inflationary pressures. We emphasize that the increase in the budget for public sector salaries should be accompanied by significant measures for income and benefits in the efficiency of the public sector and not jeopardize the medium-term objectives of fiscal consolidation, "the IMF emphasizes.
The report states that this year, economic growth is expected to be moderate, around 3 percent, due to the slowdown in economic growth of trading partners, withdrawal of support policy and tighter financial conditions.

Një përshkallëzim i luftës së Rusisë në Ukrainë dhe moti i pafavorshëm, si faktor në prodhimin e energjisë elektrike, mund të sjellin një përsëritje të goditjeve të ofertës. Nga ana tjetër, ekonomia mund të jetë përsëri më e qëndrueshme se pritshmëritë, falë ecurisë së fortë në turizëm”, thekson FMN.
Po ashtu kërkohet një reformë rrënjësore në sistemin e Tatimeve. FMN inkurajojn monitorimin e vazhdueshëm të rrezikut të kredisë bankare, rrezikut të kursit të këmbimit dhe atij të normave të interesit.
" The medium-term revenue strategy must anchor a credible fiscal consolidation and tax reform agenda. We support the recently adopted "Income" law, which is expected to expand the tax base. Timely implementation of other planned measures to increase tax revenues is also important. Other income administration reforms, including increased compliance by wealthy individuals, complement tax policy efforts. The continued progress of fiscal structural reforms will strengthen financial management, investments and risk monitoring ," the report states.
