Living in Tirana is not easily affordable by everyone. Accommodation, food, monthly bills, but also some entertainment, amount to around 800 euros per month, some citizens declare.

Fortunately, they say they are paid well to live in Tirana, although they consider the prices expensive.

"Expensive, it depends on the salary you get. There are poor salaries that cannot afford Tirana. They are going to about 7-800 thousand ALL, 1 million ALL."

"The rent varies between 200-250 euros. Starting from the food part, where the prices are certainly many times higher compared to the income that an average Albanian receives. I would say a value somewhere around 800 euros."

But it is different for retirees, whether for those who live in the capital or those who live in the districts. Every beginning of the month, they calculate the most necessary expenses, while they are grateful for the help, the children they have in emigration.

"Tirana is a city that requires spending. The poor cannot afford it. The woman takes more, we balance and spend."

"If we have a pension of 500,000, you will prorate it within the month. I will deal with pencil and paper. We have children in emigration, they send us. They help us."

Insufficient pensions and rising prices have made them limit their daily food consumption.

"We cannot consume the main ones. Meat, fish, those that are more expensive."

According to INSTAT data, the average salary during the first three months of 2024 is 73,641 ALL, while the average pension in the city is 18,341 ALL and 11,051 ALL for those living in the countryside./ A2CNN
