The Albanian currency is gaining significant points against foreign currencies in recent days, reaching record levels for 2024.
After the rapid strengthening two days ago against the euro, now being exchanged at 102.58 lek, the local currency has significantly gained ground against the US dollar and the British pound.
According to the data just published by the Bank of Albania, one USD was exchanged today for an average of 94.44 ALL, while one British pound for 119.59 ALL.
For several days, foreign currencies have been in a downward cycle against the lek for reasons still unclear, since the tourism season has not yet started, while we are not even on holidays.
Meanwhile, the euro had a strong jump a few days ago, gaining about 1.75 lek within 24 hours, a development that seems not to have been a correction after the continuous decline, but a blow due to the immediate but short-term increase in market demand.
