Edi Rama's paranoia towards the Germans seems to have peaked two days ago, when the media close to him spread the story of a mysterious trip by the head of the German secret service, who, according to this version, had stayed in Tirana for six hours without contacting any Albanian counterpart.
The media outlets that published this story did not mention either Germany or its intelligence service by name. They only said that the head of a partner service had come to Tirana for six hours, without holding any official meetings with Albanian counterparts, implying that he had worked with his sources in the anti-government protest.
A false accusation.
A 'tear gas bomb' to confuse public opinion, without presenting any concrete evidence.
A serious state, if it has such information, prepares an official diplomatic note and requests clarification from the government of the relevant country.
But it seems that this is not Edi Rama's goal.
He has chosen another path.
Using an iron fist against protesters.
This was also seen yesterday near the Parliament, with the detention of Dritan Goxhaj and several other protesters, who were in a verbal confrontation with majority MPs.
This movement does not seem to be aimed solely at punishing a few individuals.
It is an attempt to scare ordinary citizens into not participating in the protest.
According to sources, instructions have been given to implement a selective tactic, targeting the most active and radical figures in the protest.
These individuals could then face lengthy investigative procedures, which could include charges related to Iranian contacts or influence, which would prolong the process of their release.
The goal is clear.
To curb mass participation in Saturday's protest.
Because Edi Rama's main fear is related to information that the arrival of a large number of Albanian immigrants from Germany is being organized for the July 4 protest.
In some television studios, the idea was also floated that "there are friendly countries that are no longer friends."
A formulation that was used more as propaganda fog than as information based on facts.
The aim seems to be to create the impression that non-governmental organizations and activists participating in the protest are connected to intelligence services of partner countries.
A diplomatic source has revealed that Edi Rama has had a heated debate with several ambassadors of European Union countries, who did not react after the incident with the removal of the Israeli flag from the embassy.
According to the same source, Rama had a strong clash with a senior European diplomat.
The latter has made it known that there cannot be an official reaction without clear information on the perpetrators of the incident and without a criminal procedure initiated by the Albanian authorities.
It is learned that the responses in this debate were strong.
Edi Rama has attempted to put the diplomat in a difficult position, telling him that such a lack of reaction could be interpreted as tolerance of anti-Semitism.
The answer, according to the source, was blunt:
"We don't know yet whether this is a real incident or a staged event. So far, the evidence points more towards the latter possibility."
