When Sali Berisha was declared Non Grata, many of his supporters equated him with the leader of the Bosnian Serbs, Milorad Dodik.
Saying that even though he was declared Non Grata, he was met by US officials. Dodik has not actually been declared Non Grata by the State Department, but the US government has imposed economic and financial sanctions on him, through the Treasury Department. In practice it is the same, but politically not quite. However, Dodik is an official under sanctions.
At that time we were told that Berisha, even though he is under sanctions as the head of a clan or principality, can be met by the Americans.
Today we are almost at the end of 2024. Sali Berisha, not only has no diplomatic contact, but is also under house arrest.
However, most of the deputies are with him and are ready to make a protest in Brussels against the measure of SPAK against Berisha.

In short, Sali Berisha is not considered a political prisoner as Fatos Nano was once called. This is understandable, but can Berisha be a Dodik, because he is basically doing almost what his Bosnian Serb counterpart did.

But could the doctor be a Milorad Dodik? In fact, he has been trying for a long time, with lobbying and blackmailing, but Albania is not Republika Srbska, and on the other hand, the doctor's political power is not comparable to Dodik. The Americans gave him the opportunity to show it in the last election, it reached the lowest historical level.
Today, Sali Berisha is not really the leader of the opposition, he is the leader of the party that has the most deputies in the Parliament. What about after the 2025 elections? He may be the head of the party with more MPs again and not Dodiku.
