They used to talk about troubles, today they dance...

Campaign, 30 days of electoral silence!

There was a country called Albania. Not that they changed its name, but now it is more of a political brand, an “Albania to be seen”, not to be lived in. An Albania for tourists, not for residents.

In this country, once upon a time, the word election had its original meaning: a moment when citizens shared, weighed, and chose among alternatives for the future. Today, elections have become a form of spectacle, where campaigns serve more for entertainment than for decision-making.

Once upon a time, important topics were debated: Health, employment, order, education, sports...

Today, topics of national importance are discussed such as: "Owl, Mouse, swamp, marsh..."

They used to talk about troubles. Today they dance.

Once upon a time, the government counted what it had done.

The opposition counted what they had not done.

Today, everyone talks to themselves.

There used to be a debate. Today marks the 25th anniversary of the last televised debate.

Journalists?

It was a time when they really followed the campaigns, asked questions, and sometimes even "annoyed."

Now they follow the Prime Minister's Instagram campaigns and report: "Mr. X, wearing a hat with the number 5 prominently displayed, responded in mocking tones to the joke..."

News editions?

They used to be news. Today they are videos.

It used to be shameful to lie.

Today it is shameful to tell the truth! In fact, if you dare and tell it, you are accused of being malicious towards the country. Shame has become oppositional.

The party is no longer afraid of voters.

Voters fear they are committing a crime by voting only once on election day.

There are no more debates, because the ruling party considers issues like salaries and prices to be unimportant. There is no longer a need for journalists, because now communication is done by the government itself, which reports on itself!

People used to be citizens.

Now they are followers.

What about the Party?

The party knows that sheep don't need either grass or a shepherd. A dog that barks beautifully is enough for them. And sometimes, it barks live.

Albania is no longer a country. It's a story that lasts 30 seconds. And you can't catch it on replay, because there's no more memory.
