Two words for those who dared to attack Kadare!

How is it possible to "accuse" one of the greatest writers in the world today, that he is "unjustly claiming to have been a dissident" against the tyrannical regime of Tirana, at a time when this does not give him any value more of his work?

I suddenly read on FB a letter from "Hapur" that was sent to Ismail Kadare by the writer Nasho Jorgaqi. I was amazed as soon as I got through twenty lines of it; and I saw that there was talk of a competition of literary creations: namely, two novels with the same theme. Then I realized that it was not a competition, but simply a loss of reason from Jorgaqi. Big surprise, how they still continue to attack Kadare, those who still do not believe that socialist realism has fallen... However, I am sure of one thing, that Ismail Kadare has not overthrown him; because Ismail Kadare did not overthrow the Soviet Union, nor did he overthrow the Turkish Empire, even though Kadare spoke against them with stigmatization and literature. But what I cannot understand, since 1973, is the question: these Soviets or Ottomans do not understand or do not want to understand... that this is essentially the collision of high literary creation with tyranny, ideological, especially?

And why should I linger: I Santi non si toccano!

How is it possible to "accuse" one of the greatest writers in the world today, that he is "unjustly claiming to have been a dissident" against the tyrannical regime of Tirana, at a time when this does not give him any value more of his work? Literature is not a desire to write, that is not enough: it is an artistic value that takes esteem among the great models. I do not know what can be more difficult for a regime, like that of Tirania Hoxha, than a novel like "Palace of Dreams". No doubt that this novel is a national value, at first, and then a world one. There, the Hoxian Hell is stylized, but also the hell of it all tyrannies - more precisely, the "Central Committee" itself and Enver Hoxha together with him. If they don't understand, at least enjoy it artistically...

Many years ago, probably around 1994, I met Kadare at Hotel Dajti, after nineteen years, and not without a feeling of curiosity, I told her: "From the Palace of Dreams, the total novel that you wrote, and you titled it "Concert at the End of Winter". I was sure about this, but I was not sure about the author's statement, because a question like this cannot be allowed to be asked of the author. These are two works that I particularly liked in world literature. But, for many, many reasons, Ismaili waited for a few seconds, and said to me without shyness: "Yes, it came from him".

By this I mean that there is a Kadareian continuity in Ismail Kadare's work. They are related, but have a common specificity: tragedy and patriotism, universal history and shocking creation that unites the times - Greek antiquity, the Middle Ages and modern times. But Jorgaqi forced me to read Mjegullat e Tirana, because I had left reading it in August...

I was not surprised by the artistic value of this novel, but by another fact: The Albanian Tragedy, there is also a modern Romeo and Juliet... As it seems, this is a natural propensity (natural tendency) of great writers.

And the critic "accused" that this novel was written now. How is it possible to talk about the date of writing for a work of art? In fact, according to him, this has come and "is written now" that "Kadareja unjustly wants to be a dissident against the Hoxha tyranny". Where is the dissidence against the regime in this novel? Can this novel be compared for its anti-tyrannical contrast (which there is none at all), as beautiful as it is, to the Palace of Dreams, or to the General of the Dead Army, or to Chronicle in Stone, not to mention many others ?

I don't understand why some writers can't contain themselves... . Then, how can a writer of world stature be attacked, at a time when his value today, in a historical sense, is no more value for him than for the Albanians themselves. Why do these people want to diminish the value of world literature for the Albanians, which they have in this difficult time for their history, out of naivety or malice?

Anyway, why should I analyze this? Suffice it to say that I kindly want to say to some who have this tendency: I Santi non si toccano; because the value of the Saint is not lost, but that of the attacker. History, in the function of value and anti-value, has spared no man, whoever he was ... Even if he took the subject, it is nothing: most of Shakespeare's tragedies were written before Shakespeare wrote them . But the most difficult thing to understand is the fact that this topic was a personal event of Kadare himself...(?)
