Fatmir Mediu is the most excellent example that can be identified with today's opposition. He is today's identity of the opposition and the explanation for every problem or achievement of it. In a way, he is the monument of the opposition, or what they want to call the "united opposition".
For an opposition to be called united, it must find an objective around which they must unite. Usually in politics, unity is dictated by the need to win. In today's opposition in Albania, unity is dictated by the need not to change.
Fatmir Mediu is the symbolic face of the unchanging opposition in Albania. Since 2001, he has been in parliament as a Republican for Sali Berisha, without ever running on his own, without ever winning as a Republican, and without doing anything in Albanian politics except dirty services for Sali Berisha's family.
His portrait has accompanied Albanians since 1992, when he appears in front of the cameras with his head straight, his gaze on the horizon, his eyes unblinking, with gestures that mean what his words do not say, and with words that resemble an endless diarrhea, involuntary and harmless to anyone, even if he is affected by it. A man who does no harm personally, but is socially harmful

Since 2008, his guarantees to remain “united” with Sali Berisha have increased significantly since he is the official witness of the involvement of Sali Berisha’s son in Gërdec, since he is the man who waited for him 42 times in the office until he licensed the company and the author of the demolition tender for it. In this corrupt mechanism, as a silent witness to a crime that took the lives of 26 people, lies the whole idea of the “unification” of the opposition that Fatmir Mediu seeks. This is the deeper and full meaning of the sentence “the opposition united around Sali Berisha”.
This opposition is the opposition that has problems, individuals who have problems with the law and corruption, people who don't know how to do anything in life except keep Berisha on their toes, ambitious young politicians who hope that oppression will break as it grows, and in this case they "come together" and they hope that when the thread breaks they will be there to grab a branch of the rope, intriguers who hope that Berisha will die after some time and they will be remembered as his "loyalists", etc.
So, the opposition "united around Berisha" is the opposition that hopes that unity around him protects it from sins and the rest of the opposition that awaits his death.
This opposition amalgam, if it has to choose its new man, the "Laj Feni" of 2025, has him ready. Fatmir Mediu meets all the criteria. He has no votes, no ideas, no impact on public opinion, no party, but above all, he has no shame.
And this is an important criterion for being a symbol of the "united opposition around Berisha."
