Now that the Socialist Party has an almost qualified majority in the Assembly, Rama must think primarily about the future of the country when he forms the new governing cabinet. Because now he has a political competition with himself.
When Rama was elected prime minister for the first time (in 2013), a full 16 LSI MPs voted for him. As a result, the LSI occupied about 25% of the positions in the state administration.
When Rama was elected prime minister for the second time (in 2017), 19 LSI MPs voted for him. As a result, LSI occupied about 25% of the positions in the state administration.
When Rama was elected prime minister for the third time (in 2021), he no longer needed the votes of LSI MPs. As a result, the administration was purged of its activists. However, the fragile victory of the SP in 2021 (4 mandates out of 74 that the SP won were by a thread), made Rama govern more with an eye on the 2025 elections than on the future of the country.
Now that the PS has an almost qualified majority in the Assembly, Rama must think mainly about the future of the country, when he forms the new governing cabinet. Because now he has a political competition with himself – the DP can collect a maximum of 500 thousand votes, the LSI less than 30 thousand votes, and the other parties 150 thousand votes distributed in small electoral corners…
NOTE: The only political competition for Rama in the near future could be the Shkodra Municipality in 2027. On May 11, 2025, the SP received 24 thousand votes in the territory of the Shkodra Municipality – almost as many as the PD-ASHM received. While the PSD received about 6 thousand votes. Which indicates that the competition there could be strong in 2027.
