In recent days, a wide series of crimes have taken place, in several cities and villages, from the north to the south of the country. An expanded "geography" of crime, in terms of quantity and intensity, beyond the medical metaphor, we have almost the situation of a "war balance". The events, apart from the political and social aspects and the phrase known as the phenomenon of "Balkanization of crime", constitutes a stain with a consistent social and cultural weight that not only embarrasses us, but is also "polluting" our civilization. As a sociologist, I think that the "nomenclature of crime" in our society has already been completed with all "monstrous forms".
Under these conditions, crime is probably one of the factors, if not the main one, that society is going through a critical phase of manifestations of forms and paradigms of general social neuroticism. Sadistic and criminal people are being added to it, who appear in society as beings who have nothing to do with the social and human species, abnormal, who kill with a conscience and in cold blood, being inspired and guided by obvious animalistic criminal passions. Every day we face such people who have committed monstrous crimes. Criminals who kill the wife, mother, father, son, daughter, friend, girlfriend, neighbor, passer-by and random person. People of the "neanderthal man" type and not of the "human species". More precisely, socially repulsive and personally dangerous types, because they have not yet separated from the legacy of "animal behavior".
Often in the public opinion and also in the media, personalized analyzes of the motives of criminals are made, hiding the truth of the essential causes of the phenomenon of the high intensity of the spread of crime in society. Which, in my opinion, is firstly related to the moral crisis of our society, which is probably the biggest factor that is deepening the criminal situation. Even, now we can say without fear, to the limits of social madness. It has become common that behind every crime we look for some reasons such as the expansion of mental illnesses, property problems, poverty, the widespread use of drugs and alcoholism, the clash of moral concepts about "honor" or marital fidelity, motives of revenge, etc.. All of these taken together or separately are really evident factors, which have their general and specific impact on the creation of this intensified crime situation in our society, which has turned into a kind of "social infection" that it has crossed every border, appearing as a banal and massive social phenomenon. There is no need to hide like "ostriches", nor to cover up the real truths.
The scum of crime is increasing and even "thickening" the society. The facts of criminality, especially those that have happened these days, are such that, as typology and morphology, they fully meet the conditions to define the idea that the pathology of crime in our society is no longer a "social metaphor", but an expanding social reality . Undoubtedly, this social phenomenon is one of the most complicated, which our society is facing harshly. Looking at the causes and personalized motives of crime, analyzing their deontology, it seems that in this synthesis many objective and subjective factors, with a social and personalized dimension, complementary causes of historical, cultural, social and psychological nature have their influence. The truth must be known and accepted. Crime has become one of the terrible characteristics of the time, perhaps the greatest social wound that has gripped the body of society, that has greatly weakened the cohesion of its social structures. The numerous murders are phenomena that testify to the devaluation of the "price of life", giving the society the status of a "psychiatric hospital".
In this context, it is imperative that the optics of crime judgment must first assess the character, retrograde effects and consequences with negative social polyvalence. Sociologists, looking at this situation of the epidemic spread of crime, talk about what they call the "flaws of the human species", where they list crime first and then corruption and violation of the law. Phenomena that are already not only typical, but also expanding in our society. The American intellectual Ferid Zakaria is right when he talks about the situation, when crime is not only "democratizing", but also becoming "daily bread". But why should we be worried, even alarmed about the really aggravated crime situation in our society? How should we face this social evil? What should we do to reduce its terrifying proportions, why not even curb it? Albanians ask these natural questions every day, with themselves and with society as a whole. And this is natural, because in my opinion, we as a society are already in a situation where crime has not only expanded in quantity, intensified as "quality", but also spread densely geographically everywhere in the city and countryside, in densely urban areas, peri-urban and rural.

Crime today in Albania has become such a banal social phenomenon, statistically so very frequent, so dense a phenomenon, that in the public and media perception, crimes are increasingly being considered as ordinary things. In fact, they have begun to be considered not so much as abnormal social phenomena, but quite natural, ordinary, understandable phenomena, justified by the typology and nature of a "free society". This abnormal way of thinking, the logic of the simplistic perception of crime, has unfortunately begun to widely influence our social psychology. A mentality that has begun to have social force and, paradoxically, is leading to the deformation of the citizen's perception of the incalculable damages of crime in the structure of urban life.
Për pasojë shoqëria shqiptare, ndoshta si kurrë më parë po përballet gjerësisht, në mënyra anormale me efektet e situatave shkatërruese, destruktive të krimit, që është një nga rreziqet e mëdha, në mos nga më kryesoret dhe që duhet konsideruar si mjet që rrezikon mundësitë e përmirësimit të cilësisë së qytetërimit tonë. Në këto kushte sa nuk është vonë, është e domosdoshme të vendosen “vijat e kuqe” kundër krimit, të cilat nuk mund dhe nuk duhet të shkelen nga askush. E keqja më e madhe me të cilën aktualisht po përballemi të gjithë individualisht dhe si shoqëri, është fakti se të ndodhur përballë përditshmërisë së situatave anormale, që gjenerojnë krim pa ndërprerje, duke u përshtatur me ritmikën sociale të zakonshme të kësaj dukurie, duket sikur nuk kemi shqetësimin e duhur, atë intensitet të shqetësimit social, i cili sot më shumë se kurrë duhet të jetë në nivele alarmante. Në të kundërt duket sikur gradualisht shoqëria ka filluar të mësohet, përshtatet, adaptohet dhe madje të “normalizojë jetën” e përditshme me praninë e zgjeruar të “kulturës së krimit”, pa u shqetësuar sa duhet, pa u preokupuar seriozisht nga prania tejet “bezdisëse” e kësaj dukurie sociale.
Ky është një problem social shumë serioz. Unë mendoj se gradualisht ka filluar të zgjerohet indiferentizmi social, mungesa e reagimit qytetar. Krimi ka kuptuar se e ka të lirë dorën, pikërisht në momentin kur shoqëria kthehet në “shumicë të heshtur” apo arsyeton mbi bazën e “sigurisë së budallait”, duke menduar se ngjarjet kriminale, vrasjet e përditshme nuk kanë të bëjnë me ta dhe familjen e tyre. Është tronditëse për të gjithë krijimi i kësaj situate, kur sikurse po duket, ndërsa kriminelët “kanë zë”, shumica bëhet e heshtur përballë tyre, duke marrë pozitën e “injorantit të realitetit të përditshëm”. Personalisht mendoj, se e keqja më e madhe sociale e kësaj situate me të cilën po përballemi aktualisht është fakti që gradualisht, pa u ndjerë, fenomenet e krimit nga shumë njerëz kanë filluar të shikohen, madje edhe të interpretohen si fenomene sociale të natyrshme të lidhura me demokracinë, të pranishme në jetën normale tek çdo shoqëri moderne. Për pasojë, në jo pak raste në mënyrë formale dhe informale, krimi që është bërë masivisht kaq shqetësues për shoqërinë shqiptare, ka filluar të trajtohet me optikë sociale sempliste, të konsiderohet si shfaqje normale e pranisë së zakonshme në “shoqëritë e lira”.
In fact, it has been three decades since in our daily society, we are continuously confronted with hideous forms of crime, such typologies of monstrous behavior, which have not only made that social phenomenon very intense, but even worse , has become a phenomenon that aims to create in our society the climate of social adoption, sometimes in a linear and peaceful way and other times forced and with social violence, the presence and acceptance of this great evil, this common concern for the individual and Albanian society as a whole. Paradoxically, over time, the crime situation has been badly exaggerated.
In a synthesized way, evaluating the phenomenon objectively and sociologically, it must be accepted that the situation of organized and ordinary crime in Albania is extremely gloomy. If we do this social and sociological analysis correctly, objectively, without subjectivity and bias, we can say that it seems as if the sources of crime are of such proportions, that make our progress towards social progress, the realization of European norms and social standards of postmodern civilization. I believe that we should "wake up" from our social slumber and realize that, in its totality, crime in our society has caused the situation to be like this, since the amount of criminals and the qualities of crime have become such that they have begun to erode the "walls of existence" and the normal functioning of the main organizations of social life, the family, the city, communities and the Albanian society as a whole, putting at serious risk the modalities of building human relations, ensuring the proper conditions for the functioning of social peace in Albania.
What is very disturbing in these moments, which should make us think carefully about the causes and situation of the massive spread of crime, are the manifestations of a kind of conciliatory, conformist attitude accompanied by social indifference, passive compliance. This is dangerous because it is a refined way to make us adapt to the presence of crime in everyday life, having it always near and close to us, even without much social concern of all kinds of crimes and the criminals who commit them. .
The culture of passivity, of indifferent compliance with these situations is one of the main causes of the intense and extensive spread of crime in society. Social surveys show that the level of social understanding and social response to crime in our society is terribly low. This is the factor that is favoring its spread and expansion in families, schools, public spaces, communities and everywhere. It seems and there is a public perception, which shows that the structures of the state and the social reaction are becoming powerless in the face of the evilness of the crime. This is a situation that must be faced. Because crime does not only affect the "swelling of the seams" of society, it also affects the appearance of "social cracks" in the unity of society in the face of personal evil and social wickedness...
