If the prime minister will not take the responsibility that belongs to him both for the educational and the social model that he has installed in these 12 years, it would be more honest to remain silent than to announce "drastic measures" for the complete closure of Tik Tok and Snapchat.
The prime minister-artist announced today before the Albanians his big dilemma whether security filters should be installed for social networks or a drastic decision should be taken, as he said, to close them completely. The social uproar caused by the killing of a 14-year-old by one of his peers, near a school in the middle of Tirana, forced Edi Rama to appear personally in front of the cameras today, after the government meeting. And, unable to declare that Saliu and the opposition are to blame for this case, he announced the claim for Tik Tok and Snapchat.
Of course such tragic events do not automatically blame the government, they can happen anywhere in the world. The responsibility of those elected to lead lies in the educational system they build and the effective measures they promise to take to increase security. But to appear in front of the citizens and pass these responsibilities to Tik Tok, implying that the government has done everything and the complete closure of some social networks will solve the problem of violence in schools, is political rashness and insensitivity to a tragedy.
Edi Rama has not revealed the hot water by saying that some online platforms encourage violence. But he is not the prime minister to repeat the analyzes of sociologists and psychologists. He must first analyze what model he has offered to society in 12 years of governance, both educational and social.
Is Tik Toku responsible for the degraded educational and educational level these last 10 years? About the 2013 hoax that the education budget would rise to 5 percent of GDP with Rilindash coming to power? What about the reporting of sports grounds, cinemas, cultural and recreational centers? Albania has known a free fall both in the quality of education and in the creation of a healthy and safe environment for the education of the new generation. And this is where security comes into play in schools, where acts of violence, the sale and use of narcotics, and the possession of weapons are reported every day. Shutting down Tik Tok is hardly the solution to these phenomena, despite Edi Rama's genius idea.
As for the social model that some platforms like Tik Toku offer, causing dangerous deviations, it is true, but they are more or less negligible compared to the model that Rilindja has imposed on Albanian society in general and young people in particular. The language of violence, bullying, sexist and denigrating of the prime minister towards political opponents leaves behind even the most diligent tiktokers in this field. The election and promotion as the highest representatives of citizens in Parliament, local government and government, of criminals, bandits and thieves, there is no online platform that promotes it as a model better than Rilindja. Deputies who shoot guns, who punch in the Parliament, who pay for murder, who traffic drugs, shelter murderers and buy votes. Local elected officials who abuse with baseball bats and threaten with guns, ministers who also steal from the sick in hospitals and mayors who shave budget money directly for their pockets. Directors and bosses who extort citizens' taxes for the accounts of their private companies or to fill the aspiration pipes. Is there a platform in the world that can influence young people as a model of success more than Renaissance?
If the prime minister will not take the responsibility that belongs to him both for the educational and the social model that he has installed in these 12 years, it would be more honest to remain silent than to announce "drastic measures" for the complete closure of Tik Tok and Snapchat. Because there is no virtual platform that can compete with the real Renaissance. Edi Rama's photos and videos in campaigns with singers, not only preach violence but are themselves involved in it, even sponsored on the network to be distributed as much as possible, where do they differ from similar messages on Tik Tok? What about the aesthetic transformations of the ministers and heads of state who exhausted all the botox and have transformed the parliament and the government into a fashion salon, do they have more influence than the mannequins blowing their lips on Instagram?
Not to talk about the hypocrisy of a prime minister, who will assign responsibility for safety in Albanian schools to Zuckerberg or the Chinese, while he himself and his court have their children in private schools, even guaranteeing them in traffic with the state police.
The example and model of the Renaissance are today the biggest deformation that is being done to the Albanian society, which cannot be covered by Tik Toku's fault. Edi Rama can close everything he wants in this country, even without any dilemma, he has the possibilities. But he can never close the eyes of the people, before whom he is a real and not a virtual responsibility for the drama they are living.
