Today, the State Police, Korça, Maliqi and all of Albania bow with the deepest respect to the Police Martyr, Inspector Enea Mekolli.
A young man, only 34 years old, the father of a precious child who today lost his strongest arm, a husband, a son and an extraordinary colleague. Enea was not just a police officer, he was an exemplary employee in every structure he served, leaving behind the traces of a tireless professional and a man of high integrity.
Yesterday, he fell heroically in the line of duty, during an operation to capture a wanted person with high social danger. He was sacrificed in fulfillment of our sacred mission, the protection of the law, the lives of citizens, public order and security.
This is precisely where the difference lies between those who break the law and those who sacrifice the most precious thing, their lives, to protect the law and citizens. Since the moment of that tragic event, the entire State Police has experienced hours of severe pain. Every police officer, in every corner of the country, has felt this loss as a personal wound.
Through hundreds of messages and expressions of solidarity, our women and men, boys and girls in uniform have opened their hearts to share this pain with Enea's family, giving strength to her and support to each other.
This wave of solidarity showed that we are not just a state institution, we are a big family, bound by mission, sacrifice and a common ideal, to serve Albania. On Mount Bode, where law and crime clashed fiercely, Enea did not take a single step back.
He and his colleagues proved what it means to honor the oath to the Flag and the Uniform. Enea gave the most precious thing, his life, so that the community could live peacefully and safely, while our colleague, Edison Adri, was injured and is fighting for his life.
Dear Enea's family,
I am shocked by what happened and I know that there are no words that can ease your pain or stop your tears today. Courage, strength and pride for the loss of Enea, because you are not alone. As the sincere reaction of thousands of colleagues throughout Albania has proven, the State Police will be by your side at all times.
Aeneas' child and his entire family will always have our unwavering support.

In this moment of pain, our solidarity and prayers also go out to Inspector Edison Adrin, who was injured during this operation. We wish Edison a speedy recovery and a full return to his family and colleagues. He and Enea showed that the brotherhood of the uniform is unbreakable.
In these solemn moments before the body of Enea, before his family, friends, comrades, colleagues and all Albanians, I want to give you a clear and unwavering guarantee that every circumstance and every action of this operation will be examined with the utmost seriousness.
On the other hand, crime will receive the response it deserves. The author of this serious event is facing justice today and we, in cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office and the Police Supervision Agency, will resolutely follow every step of the legal process, so that justice is fully served.
On the other hand, this event is also a call to citizens across the country who love law, order and security, and who appreciate the value of the uniform and the duty performed by Police officers.
Those men and women, boys and girls that you see every day on the streets, are the ones who, in moments of danger, do not run away, but walk towards it to protect the lives, safety, and peace of citizens.
Support your Police, appreciate their sacrifice, because often this duty demands everything, even life.
Today we accompany to his final resting place, to rest on the altar of the nation, a dedicated police officer, whose loss is an incurable wound for his family, for the State Police, and for every citizen who believes in the sacrifice of the blue uniform.
Enea is now ranked among the best of this nation, among those who sacrificed their lives for the good of the country and the implementation of the law.
Dear Enea, colleague, brother and from today, Martyr of the Homeland!
You completed your earthly mission in the most heroic way, but our mission continues. Your example as an excellent employee in every task you held, and the unity that your colleagues demonstrated today, will remain an inspiration for us to never stop in the fight against crime and in serving citizens, because the uniform of the State Police will never bow to crime.
Your sacrifice will never be forgotten.
Your memory will live on in our hearts and will serve as a guiding light for every officer who wears the uniform of the State Police.
