The hands of history are counting down. We have entered a crucial period where the historical fate of not only Ukraine, Europe, and Russia, but also that of the United States and, consequently, of the global order, is expected to be determined. The main actors are exactly those expected: Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin.
American pressure on Ukraine
Ukrainian media outlet "Strana" reported that the American diplomatic duo - Secretary of State Marco Rubio and General Steve Witkoff, President Trump's special envoy - have announced that the Russian side has put forward a number of conditions during the recent meeting in Paris, including several important points that emerged from the previous meeting between Putin and Witkoff in St. Petersburg.
Analyzing Rubio's rhetoric after the Paris talks, it becomes clear that neither Kiev nor the Europeans appeared enthusiastic about these proposals. This has prompted the US to put pressure on Ukraine and Europe, warning that it may withdraw from the negotiations altogether if a result is not reached at the next meeting in London, which is expected to take place within this week.
If the talks fail, it could pave the way for the United States to withdraw not only as a mediator but also from its supporting position, creating space for Putin to resume the offensive in Ukraine. The signals are clear: Moscow has already readied hypersonic ballistic missiles of the "Oresnik" type, warning of an offensive of unprecedented proportions.
The key to success for Putin is breaking European resistance. At this critical moment, intensive talks are taking place between American and European delegations, which could be decisive for the fate of the region and Europe in general.
Trump's "gift" to Putin
The latest statement by Putin's aide, Vladimir Medinsky, published in the TASS agency, is a clear signal that the plan recently proposed by US President Donald Trump for peace in Ukraine may have been coordinated in advance with Moscow.
Medinsky described the plan as an "incredible transformation in American politics" that "will definitely end up on the pages of Russian and world textbooks." He added that as a historian he feels like he is witnessing a "historical era."
Even Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has publicly supported this plan. Prominent Croatian analyst Zoran Meter, analyzing this phenomenon, suggests that Putin may have lured Trump with lucrative economic deals involving American companies in the territory of mineral-rich Russia. This hypothesis is reinforced by the recent visit of Kirill Dmitriev, Russia's special envoy for state investments to the US.
To make this diplomatic offer more convincing, Putin also made a propaganda move on the eve of Easter, suddenly announcing a two-day ceasefire and exchange of prisoners of war.
What does Donald Trump's plan contain?
According to Western and Ukrainian media, Trump's plan contains several sensitive points:
-Ceasefire along the current front line, with areas occupied by Russia remaining under its control.
-Rejection of Ukraine's membership in NATO.
-Gradual lifting of some US and European sanctions against Russia.
-Creation of a neutral zone around the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, under US control.
-Recognition of Russian sovereignty over Crimea.
-It is significant that the Ukrainian authorities have not yet denied the existence of this plan.
The West in distress
The coming days will be crucial to see whether Moscow will accept this "gift" from Trump, or decide to continue the war, threatening a new, potentially catastrophic escalation for Western Europe.
The final announcement on this is expected to be made soon by Steve Witkoff, the American envoy.
Whatever decision is made, one thing is certain: we have now entered a crucial historical period, where the proxy war between America and Russia on Ukrainian soil is coming to an end. Europeans, who were once ready to sacrifice Ukraine, are now anxious and must face the consequences of decisions being made away from their desks./ Pamphlet
