The appearance of Altin Duman in a long interview on public television is a novelty for Albanian society. He drew a new institution in the Albanian society, which is clearly no longer in the hands of politics, is not a client of the traditional media and its prey, and is not seduced by the interest groups of the Albanian society, which are the main premise for official corruption.
His distance from politics is readable not in what he says, but in what he does. Today, he has turned into a kind of "executioner" of the Albanian political class, giving nightmares to the majority in power and muddying the stagnant waters of the opposition, where corrupt politicians hold the party hostage to escape justice. It has simply harmed this scheme, as it proves that no one escapes justice. Not even the party stamp.
But the thing that has made the most impression is the fact that Altin Duman's interview was not quoted by the big traditional media. Top Channel, Klan, and almost all other television stations ignored it as if it didn't happen. It's not a matter of jealousy why he appeared on VATS, but because he broke a tradition of imposing the big Albanian media on strong public figures in key positions. It almost seemed as if, if you didn't appear at Klan or Topi, you weren't called president, prime minister, chief prosecutor, chief justice, etc.
His appearance on VATS and the traditional media ignoring the interview is one of the best signs that he is not captured by the media. Watch their efforts to ignore him, to realize that he is not their favorite.
The same can be said about interest groups. The only ones who had the courage to react to him were two lawyers of one of the criminal groups he is investigating in the "Metamorphosis" operation. They were excited by his language, but called for public debate on some procedural issues of their own. This shows that he is not captured by them and creates public interest when he talks about issues that they care about.
