Protests, the battle for the primacy of the opposition

Tomorrow's protest will most likely not change anything in terms of the Albanian political reality. Apart from a demonstration of strength by Sali Berisha, to tell Albanians and especially internationals that he is the real opposition...

In one of the rare cases in the history of the Albanian transition, a part of the opposition will hold a political protest with its leader under house arrest. Undoubtedly, this shows Sali Berisha's personal victory. Until yesterday, several deputies had resigned near Sali Berisha, tomorrow there will be more.

Because let's be clear, tomorrow's protest is not the peak of the unity of the opposition, but the peak of Sali Berisha's victory. This union, or this protest, neither removes nor adds any more votes to Sali Berisha. His votes are entirely personal and this must be accepted. Sali Berisha has the same number of votes as with four MPs and with 40 MPs. From this point of view, it does not change anything in the support for him or for the re-establishment.

Tomorrow's protest will probably not change anything in terms of the Albanian political reality. Apart from a demonstration of strength by Sali Berisha, to tell the Albanians and especially the internationals that he is the real opposition.

It is already clear that the biggest problem of Sali Berisha, the political force he leads, is total international isolation. In this sense, this is a protest whose echo will not cross the borders of Albania. And without international alliances and allies, it is very difficult, even impossible, for the rotation to happen in Albania.

And the show of force is nothing but for the internal affairs of the opposition and nothing else. Everyone is aware that political protests neither harm nor weaken the government. Even more so through a political force whose leader is under arrest, declared non-grata by the two main countries of the West and allies of the Albanians.

Therefore, this protest will simply strengthen the internal ranks. Often times, political protests are more about internal opponents than external opponents. In this case, against the rest of the Democratic Party.
Because in two consecutive years, the re-establishment has not produced any idea, any thesis or any political vision other than repeating that they are the "real opposition".

In this direction, he spent energy, public accusations and denigration of the rest of the opposition. Because Berisha knows very well that in the conditions in which the political opponent is not Edi Rama, but Lulzim Basha. Since the only objective it has is to be part of the political game in the opposition. Power neither has an objective nor can it have. He is the most sensitive of all those who follow him to this reality.

So far it has managed to be an important part of the opposition, perhaps the most important. The point is that under his leadership the Democrats and the right will continue to remain in the opposition for a long time. But for Berisha, being in the opposition is not a problem at all. On the contrary, it is the main objective.
