The big picture here is that Edi Rama manages to make deals with all wings of American politics. And no one has done this until today. Not Putin, not Xi Jinping, not even Iran.
Enver Hoxha wrote tons of books about the great Anglo-American danger that threatened little communist Albania. But times have changed and the world has turned upside down. Now it is the powerful America that is threatened by the Albanian danger.
Not more than six months ago, a Republican congressman from Ohio named Jim Jordan wanted to investigate the McGonigal affair, including his dealings with Eddie Rama. Mr. Jordan wrote a series of requests for information to the FBI, but never received a response. In the end, he accused the US Department of Justice and Joe Biden's Democrats of obstructionism.
A week ago, a Maryland Democratic congressman named Jamie Raskin asked to pass a motion to compel Jared Kushner to testify in congress about the $2 billion fund benefited by the Arabs and his deals in Serbia and Albania. Ironically, the man who blocked the motion was Jim Jordan.
So the one who wanted to investigate Edi Rama on the McGonigal case blocked Edi Rama's investigation on the Kushner case. If there will be another request for an investigation of Edi Rama in the USA, it will not be surprising that the man who will block it will be Jamie Raskin. The upside-down world is not just a metaphor. Look at the facts.
At the time when the opposition and critics of the government in Albania were at the peak of euphoria that the McGonigal affair had once and for all put an end to Edi Rama's access to the White House, Secretary of State Blinken arrived in Albania, who declared Edi Rama the leader outstanding and model prime minister.
McGonigal's huge disappointment left the opposition with one last hope. That of political rotation in the USA. And while Sali Berisha and other leaders of the Democratic Party publicly declared that the election of Donald Trump as president in the USA would change the wind blowing from the White House towards Albania, Edi Rama was served on a silver platter to Trump's son-in-law, Sazan and Grenell.
The big picture here is that Edi Rama manages to make deals with all wings of American politics. And no one has done this until today. Not Putin, not Xi Jinping, not even Iran.
And while the rival powers try to influence the elections in the USA through cyber attacks or other sophisticated methods, Edi Rama does it manually. Through deals.
To date, the only public intervention from abroad in an American election process has come from the prime minister of Albania, when he called Donald Trump a national shame and disaster for the USA at the height of the election campaign with Clinton. Now that the elections are approaching again, it seems that the government of Albania, ie Rama, is making an agreement with the Trump camp.
So, ridiculous as it may seem, if there is any major risk of outside influence in the upcoming United States election, the main threat is not Russia. Neither Iran nor China. So far the main potential threat seems to be Little Albania. The power of which apparently stems from Americans' adoration of Ben Franklin, whose image is immortalized on the sleek $100 bill.
Putin and others take note that they have a lot to learn. From the manual on how to compromise a top FBI agent to buying credits in both arms of American politics.
