Sali Berisha's drama is, for the first time, the drama of a man who is clear to everyone.
There was a scene after the DP leadership meeting two days ago, when Salianji was talking about journalists and explaining with great nervousness what accusations Berisha's supporters had made against him inside, and Sali Berisha came out of the door. He waved to the journalists, with the delirium of a man who spoils every party if he appears in front of journalists, but no one spoke to him. He looked at them confused for a moment as to why they weren't reacting, then he held his feet for a moment, listened to what Salianji was saying. Damn it, at that moment he was saying that he had never had any connection with organized crime. Berisha had a fit of fits and got into his car in despair.
It was the first time in his life that he was ignored by journalists at his headquarters, after a critical meeting with many debates, where of course his opinion was sought.
All the spotlight was on Salianji, whose only merit was that he had resisted the accusations and turned them back.
Berisha, who is the biggest consumer of media in the history of Albanian politics, even when he has nothing to say, was ignored by the media precisely at a moment when, if only for balance, he could have been interesting. But none of those young reporters approached him with a microphone. Sali Berisha's drama for the first time is the drama of a man who is clear to everyone. And for those young boys and girls reporters who were born and raised watching Berisha on television their whole lives, he no longer has anything interesting to say. He has consumed it all.
The hostile group of Salijanj is the 40th in the history of the life of the DP and all with one scenario: you are criticizing to help the enemy and you are paid by them. This scene has been repeating itself since December 1991 with Neritan Ceka. All enemies and he is always there without moving.
He's been using the same argument his whole life to remain at the head of the DP, but this is the first time that everyone is clear about what he's doing and why he's doing it, and no one has any interest in him anymore.
He has been trying to build scenarios with conspiracies and enemies all his life that are affecting him, affecting Albania, but this is the first time that no one is interested in listening to him.
He has been using the DP scum his whole life against any intellectual or DP leader who challenges him, but this is the first time that everyone is interested in the enemy and not him.
He has invested his entire life in having his own media, his own journalists, even his own family media, and it is the first time that even the microphone of the family television was not directed at him at that moment.
This is a strong turning point in the history of Sali Berisha's public imposition. For the first time, he is irrelevant, unnecessary, unlistenable and above all worthless.
Everyone knows what's going to happen. They know that he will expel Salianj and his supporters, they know that he will further isolate the DP, they know that he will continue to bargain, they know that he will attack his wife, his family, his society, they know that he will not move Flamur Noka from holding the Uturak, they know that he will not do anything of what he says... so they no longer expect anything from him.
And this is the only problem that Sali Berisha has. Sali Berisha is killing him now. It is not his critics who are killing him. It is not the criticism of Salianji as his last critic who is killing him. Salianji simply makes his painful end more visible, where everyone is clear and expects nothing from him.
No one is angry with him now for anything. Not for the fact that he brings 30 people to the square, not for the fact that he is caught bargaining, not for the fact that he lied about everything he promised in the pulpit, not for the fact that he has billionaire children, not for the fact that he talks nonsense against justice and then hopes to overthrow Edi Rama through justice, not for the fact that he won't even let you touch the flag.
Now everyone sees him as something that has been left on their doorstep. And when an old man of that age is left on your doorstep, after having privatized his house, you are forced to pretend to take care of him. No one expects anything from him, except for him to die. And this is the greatest punishment that a politician can receive at the end of his life.
