Other details from the tragic accident today in Këlcyre are coming to light. The incident happened around 04:00, on the road axis Këlcyre-Përmet near the village of Kuqar.
It is reported that the vehicle carrying 7 immigrants left the road under still unclear circumstances and ended up on the bed of the Vjosë river. As a result of the accident, 8 people lost their lives, including the driver.
It is learned that 6 dead bodies were taken out of the vehicle, while 2 of them still remained inside the 'Benz'. While one of the bodies "flew" out of the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle, Sokol Ismeti, tried to get away from the police, after he was spotted by the patrol with the vehicle full of people. As soon as he saw the police patrol, he increased the speed and turned towards Përmet to leave.
The sources say that according to the preliminary expertise, the vehicle was moving at a speed of 180 km/h. It is suspected that the vehicle was rented, while further verifications by the police are awaited.
