A hearing is being held today to determine the security measure against 24-year-old Teilor Tivari, who is accused of murdering 51-year-old Valbon (Marko) Beqiri.
The serious incident occurred a few days ago in Durrës, where Beqiri was shot dead after a conflict. Tivari was arrested immediately after the incident.
The prosecution is expected to request the most severe security measure, "prison arrest", while the defense is expected to present its arguments during the hearing.
How did the incident happen?
The 51-year-old was stabbed to death with over 20 stab wounds by a 24-year-old man, who has now been arrested by the police. Sources from the investigation team say that, contrary to the author's claim that the victim attempted to rape him, the murder is suspected to have been premeditated. Investigators are examining the possibility of an intimate relationship between them, which may have led to the fatal conflict.
An examination of the scene revealed that Beqiri was hit at the apartment door. After the fight, he was found under the kitchen table (with only his underwear on), while the apartment was covered in blood. The incident is suspected to have occurred within a period of 25 minutes.
The crime was discovered after the victim did not go to pick up his son from school, as he did every day. After searching, a relative found him dead in the apartment that Beqiri had in custody and notified the police on Wednesday evening. Investigations revealed that the crime was committed yesterday morning, around 10:00. According to the official police announcement, the 24-year-old had entered the apartment to buy narcotics, but after a conflict over weak motives, he stabbed him several times, causing his instant death.
Police arrested 24-year-old Taylor Tivari and another person who helped him flee the scene, while investigations are ongoing to clarify the full motives for this crime.
