A State Police officer was injured in Kuçova after a 45-year-old man who was accompanying him took his service weapon and shot him during transportation to the police station.
Serious incident in Kuçovë. A State Police officer was injured this evening while escorting a person suspected of "Disturbing public peace".
A State Police officer was injured on Monday evening in Kuçova, while escorting a person suspected of "Disturbing public peace".
According to the official Police announcement, at around 19:00, the services of the Kuçovë Police Commissariat were transporting the citizen with the initials ZS, 45 years old, resident of Kuçovë, from the Fier Police Commissariat to the premises of the Kuçovë Police Commissariat.
During the escort, the 45-year-old man had a conflict with the police officer, citizen AT, 20. According to authorities, during the confrontation, he took the officer's service weapon and shot him with it.
Immediately after the incident, a police patrol intervened, neutralized the perpetrator and recovered his service weapon.
The injured officer was transported to the hospital for medical attention and, according to the Police, his life is out of danger.
Also, during the physical search of the suspect, the Police services found a quantity of narcotics, suspected to be cocaine, hidden in his body.
Meanwhile, the investigative group and the Police Supervision Agency (AMP), under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, are continuing their investigations to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident, as well as to verify the procedures followed during the escort of the person by the Police officers.
