Now that Klodiana Vefa's killer committed suicide, the closest and trusted friend of the victim cannot find peace.
"After Klodiana's death, I locked myself in the house. He was still around and armed. He could come looking for me and kill me too. He hated me and was afraid that I stood in front of him ," she said.
And her concern is that, for the love of her children, Klodiana never reported her future killer, Alfred Vefa, 44, who executed her in the street of Castelfiorentino (Florence) last Thursday in the evening hours .
"I had told Alfred more than once: if Klodiana doesn't accuse you of the hell you are putting her through, I will. Klodiana never denounced her children. She was afraid that if she did, he would harm her children: a revenge for hitting her. And then he was convinced that even if he denounced the threats, persecutions and torture that he was doing, nothing would change. He told me: whatever he's going to do, he's going to do anyway" , she says about Qn.
"She wanted to be happy, she was trying with all her might. He had found a person he was comfortable with. A man who, like her, lived years of hell, enduring everything because they wanted to be together. I know him very well and he, like me, until Alfred was found dead, was afraid to leave the house, but now I will have to face everything else: an unbearable pain and a regret that will torment me forever . I should have gone to the police and reported, with or without Klodiana's consent. Neither I nor her partner wanted to go against her wishes. We insisted a lot. We tried to convince him in every way. But in the end she closed the discussion: we are Albanians, you cannot understand. We respected it until the end", continues her friend.
