The Special Court has remanded Lulzim Berisha, who was extradited from Spain a few days ago and is accused of the murder of Klodian Salihu, in custody.
In a statement to the media, his lawyer Detar Hysi stated that the testimonies of the repentant justice, Luftar Reçi, are artifices to deceive state institutions. He called on the special prosecutors, saying that they must dedicate themselves to responsibility and independence in the exercise of their duties.
"I must clarify to the public opinion that Luftar Reçi creates artifices by deceiving state institutions. I appeal to the special prosecutors that the use of justice collaborators, for certain interests, or for media statistics, seriously violates national security, life and property.
"We must abandon this extra legal standard, the prosecutor must commit to responsibility and independence in the exercise of his duties," said Lulzim Berisha's lawyer.
We recall that the former leader of the Durrës gang escaped life imprisonment after the Supreme Court overturned this decision and sentenced him to 25 years behind bars. However, he was released on parole after Vangjush Dako signed a letter that would employ him in the Durrës Municipality.
Lulzim Berisha was arrested in Spain on December 14, 2023 after being declared internationally wanted as a person of high social risk.
