
A 51-year-old man who was declared an international wanted man has been arrested in Këlcyrë, with the aim of extradition to Italy, where he has been convicted of drug trafficking.
This is about citizen Fatbardh Çela, also known as Gentian Çela , who was sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Verona Court.
He was wanted by Interpol Rome, while his arrest was made possible as part of a police operation conducted in the south of the country.
Following the arrest, Albanian authorities have initiated procedures for his extradition, in cooperation with Interpol Rome.
"The operation codenamed "Fugitive" is finalized, 1 internationally wanted citizen is captured.
Sentenced to 10 years in prison for drug trafficking, the 51-year-old is captured in Këlcyrë and arrested with the aim of extradition to Italy.
As part of the increased controls to prevent and crack down on illegalities, as well as to capture wanted citizens, the Narcotics Investigation specialists, in cooperation with the services of the Këlcyrë Police Station, based on information obtained in the operational route about a wanted citizen, organized and finalized the operation codenamed "Fugitive".
During this operation, as a result of rapid and coordinated actions, it became possible to capture in Këlcyrë and arrest for extradition purposes the citizen:
-Fatbardh Çela alias Gentian Çela, 51 years old, resident of Këlcyrë.
This citizen was declared internationally wanted by Interpol Rome, after the Court of Verona, Italy, sentenced him to 10 years in prison for the criminal offense of "Trafficking in narcotics."
"Interpol Tirana, in cooperation with Interpol Rome, is continuing the procedures for the extradition of this citizen to Italy ," the police announced.
