
The French police seized 74 kg of cocaine at the Perthus customs office, while an Albanian was arrested.
Customs officers were positioned at the large Perthus toll gate, on the A9 motorway towards France. They conducted a road check on a heavy goods vehicle.
The vehicle is registered in Italy and the driver was an Albanian citizen, who was traveling to Italy.
The semi-trailer contained a load of laundry detergent. After the controls, it turned out that there were 74 kg of cocaine in this car, a load which, if it were released to the market, would be worth 2.9 million euros.
So, yesterday the Perpignan court sentenced the Albanian driver to 4 years in prison and detention in French territory for 10 years.
