Kristjan Cenaj, accused of the murder and disappearance of 16-year-old Mariglen Gjonaj in Kurbin, risks life imprisonment.
This measure of punishment was requested by the prosecutor of Lezha Frančesk Ganaj, who gave the final conclusions regarding this case in court.
According to the prosecution body, it has been proven that the 31-year-old Cenaj is the author of the incident, committing the criminal offense of "Theft resulting in death", while the accused himself has continuously denied having anything to do with the macabre crime which happened on purpose the robbery of the teenager, as he was carrying a ROLEX watch.
It will now be the jury chaired by Judge Aldi Kareco which will decide the fate of 31-year-old Kristjan Cenaj, who has been in custody since October 2022, when he was arrested by the police at the request of the prosecution.
The murder of 16-year-old Mariglen Gjonaj was revealed 4 months after the remains were found buried in an area with thorns and bushes in the area of Fushë-Kuqe in Kurbin, and 7 years after his disappearance.
The suspected author of the incident, Kristjan Cenaj, had been kept under surveillance since August 2022 and was handcuffed at Rinas airport, where he was returning from Italy, where he had been living for years, after going to the wedding of a relative.
Meanwhile, the medical-legal expertise shows that the 16-year-old Maringlen Gjonaj was hit on the head with hard objects, which caused his death, and then he was buried in the place where the serious crime took place.
