An Albanian has appeared before the court after being caught cultivating the narcotic substance cannabis.
The police found the Albanian citizen Almir Cahani hiding in an attic.
Earlier, Greatest Hits Radio reported that 77kg of the Class B drug, worth £771,000, was seized during the raid at the former Buccleuch Hotel in Trinity Street, along with 410 plants, which were not yet fully matured.
At Jedburgh Magistrates' Court today, Cahani was found guilty of manufacturing the class B drug. However, pleas of not guilty to a breach of the Electricity Act were accepted by the Crown.
The sentence for the 31-year-old has been postponed until next month. The case will return to Court on September 2. Sheriff Peter Paterson warned Cahan that it was inevitable the charges would result in a prison sentence.
Last month, Cahan's co-accused, 41-year-old Dritan Katana, also Albanian, was jailed for 28 months after pleading guilty to the charges and warning he would be deported upon his release.
