22 people were arrested by the Italian police this morning in the provinces of Varese, Milan, Lecco, Bergamo and Novara, destroying the Albanian drug trafficking clan, active in the areas of Lower Varesotto and Upper Milan.
About 80 Carabinieri forces, together with dog units, have been on the ground since the morning of today, to bring to justice 20 Albanian citizens and 2 Italians accused of being part of a criminal group with the purpose of trafficking and trading in narcotics.
The operation, carried out by the Carabinieri of Busto Arsizio and coordinated by the DDA of Milan and the Prosecutor's Office of Milan and Busto Arsizio, was renamed "Return", because the distinguishing characteristic of the clan was the continuous replacement of "soldiers" operating in the area with "soldiers". fresh, coming from Albania".
Since the early hours of this morning, the provincial command of the Carabinieri of Varese has executed, in the provinces of Varese, Milan, Lecco, Bergamo and Novara, 20 prison arrest warrants and 2 house arrest warrants, issued by the GIP of the Court of Milan , to 20 Albanian citizens and 2 Italians.
The Public Prosecutor's Office of Busto Arsizio said that 3 million euros of drugs ready to be sold were seized.
How the police tracked down the Albanian drug-trafficking clan
The existence of a criminal association already known in the news as being involved in a bloody event that took place in November 2016 in Canegrate, in the Legnano area, has been established. On that occasion, during a fight with another Albanian group for the control of drug trafficking areas, two young distributors of the clan were shot dead. One of those arrested during today's operation is the brother of one of the victims of that episode.
The investigative activity arose from the arrest in flagrante delicto of an Albanian citizen, who was found in possession of 110 doses of cocaine, with a total weight of 94.2 grams and the amount of 11,950 euros, carried out by the soldiers of the Busto Arsizio company in June 2020. The subsequent activities, carried out through both traditional and technical investigations, in addition to allowing the reconstruction of a dense network of distributors operating in the areas of lower Varesotto and in the interior of Milan, made it possible to discover the existence of the criminal association capable of moving and retailing significant quantities of narcotics.
Traffic axis with Albania
Many of the associates are related to each other by family ties, and the criminal association is characterized by the ability to ensure a constant turnover of distributors in the area, providing new soldiers from their country of origin every 3 months. That's why the investigation file bears the name "Back". The depth of the criminal group is also highlighted by the meticulous internal organization, with collaborators in charge of logistical support in favor of the pushers coming from Albania, the supply and transport of drugs and the packaging of doses.
In general, three houses have been identified in the province of Varese, used exclusively as a "warehouse" for the narcotic substance and a "laboratory" for the packaging of doses. Moreover, it turned out that the arrest of some members of the clan did not prevent others from continuing their work. During the investigative phase, six people were arrested in the act and 20 kilograms of cocaine, 10 kg of heroin, 81 kilograms of hashish and a sum of money of 453 thousand euros, which would be worth about 3 million euros on the market, were seized.
