New details have been revealed from the suicide of Albanian Leonard Farruku. The serious incident on the hotel ship in the South of England where the Home Office had accommodated him could have been prevented.
Diane Taylor, journalist of "The Guardian", has shown that the concern that the 27-year-old Albanian had mental health problems was not taken into consideration.

The same social worker, who was among the last people met by Leonard Farruk, states that: "There are many important moments in this story that need to be told as I am convinced that they will happen again if pressure is not put on them. who have the responsibility of caring and helping people and that it is their duty to fulfill it properly".
Further in his confession, this social worker shows that Leonard Farruku was extremely scared when he was told that he had to go to the hotel ship and refused to go. He was lied to in a car and told he would be taken to another hotel in Swindon town.
The family of Albanian immigrant Leonard Farruku, who ended his life on the hotel ship on December 12, 2023, has requested an independent investigation into what happened at the Bibby Stockholm accommodation.
The Guardian newspaper writes that lawyers for Leonard's family have sent a request to the English minister for justice, Alex Chalk, asking him to have the state's attorney for prisons (PPO) investigate his death.
For the prisons lawyer, English law requires this institution to investigate all deaths of immigrants in detention centers for asylum seekers, but in this case the hotel ship where Leonard Farruku was held is not classified as a closed center where immigrants are kept, who have described it as a "jail".
In the request drawn up by the Bhatt Murphy law firm, it is argued that the hotel ship should be considered a detention center for immigrants and in such conditions the prisons attorney should initiate an independent investigation into the circumstances of Leonard Farruk's death./TCH
