The city of Pogradec was shocked by a tritol explosion in the early hours of this Monday morning. The target was Meardi Berberi, a person with a significant criminal record, convicted 5 times since 2011. The 38-year-old is part of the group that attacked Hotel Voloreka with weapons in 2020 in Pogradec and left the cell after benefiting from the amnesty.
Merad Berberi, together with Ilir Berberi, were considered to be the organizers of the attack on the 'Voloreka' hotel in Pogradec, on August 2020, while Anterio Kaloshi played the role of the assassin.
The explosive was thrown at 02:30 in the landing between the first floor and the second floor of a building, and according to witnesses in the area, the explosion was very powerful.
'Very powerful explosion we said that the palace fell. When I came out I saw black smoke. The cleaners ate the pieces of bricks.'- said a witness.
Meard Berberi has been convicted 5 times for various criminal offences, starting with intentional grievous bodily harm, production and possession of weapons without permission and opposition to the police forces.

'Around 02:30, in the grounds of a building between the first floor and the second floor, near the residence of citizen M B, a small amount of explosives was thrown and as a result there is only material damage. The investigation group under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office continues the work to clarify the circumstances of the incident, the identification and capture of the author/s.
