A serious event has shocked Greece and our country today, where a 36-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her 40-year-old husband.
Greek media are revealing new details about the macabre crime. It is learned that what drove 40-year-old Albanian, Pandeli Nakoleci, to kill his wife in front of their children was a message on Marjola's cell phone.
This caused the 40-year-old to become insanely jealous, as he suspected she was having an extramarital affair.
Since Friday afternoon, the police have launched a search for his arrest, as the perpetrator fled after the crime, while also carrying the knife that carried out the murder.
According to information provided by Greek media, officers of the Undersecretariat of Security have turned their attention to the footage from security cameras located around Constanta and Gladstonos streets. The aim is to map the route followed by the perpetrator immediately after the crime, when he fled on foot to avoid arrest.
At the same time, another police team is searching the city and possible shelters where he may have been hiding, while the possibility that he may have killed himself is not being ruled out. This scenario is being seriously considered, as the 40-year-old had a history of mental health problems, and is said to have attempted suicide about two months ago.
According to a report by MEGA, on June 28, 2025, he was transferred to the Volos psychiatric clinic after attempting suicide on the porch of his house, again in front of his children. It is also said that he was under the influence of drugs.
In 2019, he was arrested three times for drug possession and trafficking. He only spent two months in prison and has been struggling financially ever since.
What do eyewitnesses say?
"I heard the kids running down the stairs. I saw him on the porch, running. Then, I heard voices, the kids were screaming. He was holding something in his hands," witnesses said.
A neighbor of the couple describes to MEGA what he saw immediately after the brutal crime.
"I saw a broken window and a woman covered in blood. I saw a gentleman running here with a sharp object in his hands, going to the other side and shouting 'they're following me', barefoot," adds another resident of the area.
How did the crime happen?
The 40-year-old took the life of his wife by stabbing her with a knife in front of their children, aged 6 to 18.
The eldest daughter spoke to gegonota.news, stating that her parents had frequent arguments. This morning, while the whole family was at home, another argument broke out, when the 40-year-old then took a knife and stabbed her in the neck and back.
"I don't know why they fought," said their 16-year-old daughter, who revealed that the 40-year-old was jealous of his wife and for a time she had kicked him out of the house.
More specifically, the fight took place inside the house and the perpetrator attacked the 36-year-old woman with a knife. She ran to escape, leaving the apartment where the family lives. He followed her down the stairs and at the entrance of the building hit her again. The woman then fell against a glass window, breaking it and sustaining injuries from its shards.
After leaving his wife's bloody body behind, the perpetrator fled to Gladstone Street. According to sources from the Hospital, the wounds on the 36-year-old's body were reportedly not fatal and it is suspected that she died after falling through the window.
The children are shocked!
The image the couple's children saw was horrific... one of them, in a state of shock, reportedly whispered to police: "I saw dad stabbing mom."
The local community is following the developments with shock. No one expected the family to be plunged into such a tragedy, as there had been no history of domestic violence in the past.
