Murder over a water canal, Fier Court sets security measure for 25-year-old

The Fier Court ordered "prison arrest" against Xhesion Toromëni, who is accused of being the author of the murder of Besmir Kumria, after a conflict between them over a water canal.

The 25-year-old is charged with "Premeditated Murder" and "Unlicensed Production and Possession of Cold Weapons."

The crime occurred on August 19, outside a bar in Kryekuq, Divjaka, where 32-year-old Besmir Kumria was seriously injured after being stabbed twice. The latter was in the company of his friends and despite the efforts of eyewitnesses to save him, he was unable to survive the injuries he sustained.

Immediately after the crime, the perpetrator fled, taking advantage of the darkness, but was caught a few hours later by the operational services of the Fier Local Police Directorate.

Preliminary investigations suspect that Xhesion Toromani killed the 32-year-old after their families had ongoing conflicts over an irrigation canal in the village, however, the motives still remain unclear.

Besmir Kumria worked in the Himara area during the summer months together with his brother, while the perpetrator had not set foot in Kryekuq for 7 years.
