A 36-year-old man has been arrested by police in Durrës, accused of stealing Albanian and Kosovo vehicle license plates and then selling them to criminal groups.
The 36-year-old from Kosovo was caught red-handed in neighborhood no. 13, Plazh-Durrës, with a “Ford” vehicle, with stolen license plates. During the search of his vehicle, two license plates of a vehicle from Kosovo were found in the trunk, and screwdrivers, pliers, a knife, a pair of gloves and a hood were found in the driver's seat.
"He was stealing Albanian and Kosovo vehicle license plates in Durrës and is suspected of selling them to people with a history of committing crimes against the person and property. The suspected perpetrator has been identified, arrested and put in custody. The 36-year-old from Kosovo is suspected of being the perpetrator of several cases of vehicle license plate theft."
Two pairs of license plates, Albanian and Kosovar, screwdrivers, pliers, a knife, a pair of gloves and a mask were seized. The services of the Durrës Police Commissariat, following successive operations to solve previous thefts, based on information received in the operational route, have finalized the police operation codenamed "License Plates". As part of the operation, citizen EQ, 36 years old, from Kosovo, was arrested and handcuffed.
This citizen was caught red-handed in neighborhood no. 13, Plazh-Durrës, with a “Ford” vehicle, with license plates stolen in neighborhood no. 5, Durrës, owned by citizen RC. During the search of the “Ford” vehicle, two license plates of a vehicle from Kosovo were found in the trunk, and screwdrivers, pliers, a knife, a pair of gloves and a hood (similar to masks) were found in the driver's seat.
Tools that this citizen is suspected of using to commit thefts. The above items were seized as material evidence. Also, from the investigative actions it has resulted that this citizen is the author of the theft of license plates on two other vehicles, which occurred in recent months. In cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office, work continues on the full legal documentation of this citizen's criminal activity. The materials will be referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Durrës, for the criminal offenses of "Theft" and "Procuring means for theft", the police announce.
