A museum project in the future to turn the oldest settlement in Europe, located in Lin i Pogradec, into one of the most visited archaeological sites not only in Albania, but the Balkans and beyond.
This is a project discussed for the future by the mayor of Pogradec, Ilir Xhakolli, with the team of Albanian-Swiss archaeologists who are still there.
" It's important to do something because it's a big discovery and we can't pass it by so easily. In my idea, it is not that we build the huts, but that those that have been discovered should be conserved and declared archaeological areas, with explanatory signs, and the new museum should be in that area, as we will think about it ," said Ilir. Xhankolli.
While for the leaders of the archaeological expedition, Anastas Kostandini and Albert Hafner, this is the right step that should be the next one, but it certainly requires time and investment.
" For the issue of the museum, a very long time is needed for the design and allocation of annexes for the realization of the museum, in some cases it can be delayed for a minimum of 10 years. But what we should think about is to divide things into a small project, a medium one and a big one ", said Albert Hafner.
" I think it can be something that can start with an information point for tourists to be developed later as facilities where research materials will be deposited, work which will continue for many years ", said Gjipali.
" There will be a full recognition of all our work and the discovery that was made there with photos, videos and posters, we are ready to cooperate and realize everything ", added Adrian Anastasi.
According to archaeologists, the Palafit settlement in Buqeza i Lini is the place where agriculture was born and the first farmers who then spread throughout Europe, today it turns out to be the oldest settlement in Europe, a full 8100 years ago./ A2CNN
