This year's edition of Eurovision has turned out to be the most chaotic ever. From mass booing during rehearsals to the unprecedented disqualification of Dutch singer Joost Klein, this has turned into a race to remember.
And a few moments ago, Norway added more fuel to the fire with the news that Alessandra Mele has withdrawn from the position of her spokesperson, just a few hours before the show.
"Tonight I had to score Norway during the Eurovision final," she said in an Instagram video. "While I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to do so, I have made the decision to retire. United By Music – the Eurovision motto – is the reason I make music. Bring people together, bring them together. But now these words are just empty words. A genocide is happening and I am asking you all to pray, open your eyes, open your heart. Let love lead you to the truth. It's right in front of you. Free Palestine.”
Ingvild Helljesen, a trusted presenter and journalist, will take over from Alessandra.
