The spokeswoman of the Democratic Party, Mirela Karabina, spoke about the sterilization concession and the arrest of former Deputy Minister of Health Klodian Rjepaj and businessman Ilir Rrapaj.
Karabina said that this event is proof of the greed of this government, as he called on GJKKO and SPAK to fully investigate this corruption affair.
"The Special Anticorruption Structure yesterday issued 8 arrest warrants for politicians and high-ranking officials involved in corruption on the charge of: abuse of office, falsification of documentation and fraud, actions carried out during the procedure of granting a concession for the sterilization of surgical equipment.
The public is now clearly seeing that corruption, abuse of office and misuse of public funds has become a phenomenon of the Rama government, as the chain of involvement is in all cells of government and the state.
The in-depth professional investigation of the Special Anticorruption Structure (SPAK) and the Court against Corruption and Organized Crime (GJKKO) clearly proves what the Democratic Party and its chairman Mr. Lulzim Basha has been denouncing since 2016 the corruption and fraud related to this concession, where the businessman Ilir Rrapaj with 8 thousand euro capital received 83 million euro sterilization concession tender.
The Public-Private Partnership contract in this concession provides for customized sterilization of single-use surgical equipment. And for a surgical set, the concessionaire in Albania is paid a full 190 euros, compared to 0.8 euros in Germany or 3 euros in Turkey.
All this is evidence of the immense greed of this government and the deep corruption which has put the health of the citizens at risk.
The Democratic Party has not only denounced but also criminally reported the corrupt sterilization concession to SPAK, whose investigations are proving this galloping abuse of the Ministry of Health, as well as the historical abuse with the theft of public funds in health through Check-up ( control).
The Democratic Party welcomes the SPAK and GJKKO institutions for this national action of bringing to justice politicians and high officials and their clients as violators of the law, but also encourages these institutions to go to the end of the investigation, to the source of the this corrupt and destructive scheme for the public interest, to Edi Rama (Prime Minister), Ilir Beqaj (former Minister of Health) and Ogerta Manastirliu (Minister of Health).
The Democratic Party supports and will support SPAK and GJKKO in the future without any reservations for the full investigation of this corrupt affair and others in the health sector, which are directly related to the health and lives of citizens.
Albanian citizens deserve to have justice where, through checks and balances, the relevant institutions bring to justice anyone who abuses the law at the expense of the citizens' health, be it the prime minister or the president of the country!" said Karabina in her statement .
