Ahmetaj: Ergys Agasi, the mysterious man who maintains Rama's connections with mafia bosses

The show "Report" on RAI 3 broadcasted the second part of the documentary about Albania yesterday evening. Journalist Giorgio Mottola managed to interview former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj, who revealed some hard facts about Prime Minister Edi Rama in relation to mafia groups.

Ahmetaj himself says that he was the only one who raised the issue of cannabis in the country at the government meeting, but according to him, Edi Rama answered that this was helping the country's economy.

"I was the only one who raised this in a government meeting. How is it possible that cannabis is spreading and the government is not doing anything? What did Rama tell me? According to him, the plantations had given a boost to the country's economy. I replied how can this happen? Colombia must be the richest country in the world as it exports millions of tons of cocaine. In fact, they are found badly. How will Albania be able to do economy in this way?" - says Ahmetaj during a secret recording made by "Report", lapsi.al quotes.

The former "number two" of the government makes strong accusations about Rama's connection with organized crime.

"Criminal groups receive tenders through their representatives. This is known in Albania. They build, clean their construction money in Albania. Practically, they sell drugs all over Europe and then pass them to Albania. There is actually coordination between mafia organizations. They don't kill each other.

This is because Edi Rama has asked them not to cause trouble. Is Rama connected to these criminal groups? It is not only connected, but I am giving you the name of the coordinator, Ergys Agasi. There is a guy who lives in Durrës, near the Durrës clan. Now it is done on account of Rama, the coordinator of all the groups" - says Ahmetaj.

Rai 3 says that Ergys Agasi is a businessman from Durrës, the son of a former socialist deputy, among other things, the owner of a company that produces cigarettes and deals with logistics. He has never been convicted or investigated for connection with the Albanian mafia, but the media have often talked about his connection with members of criminal groups, such as the drug trafficker Xhevdet Troplini.

"Agas makes the coordinator and then he uses them for the elections. Where does Rama belong? It belongs to him in his office, in the meeting office he has in the seat of the government. I did not participate because I never agreed to be involved. I have seen almost all of them. Characters from Dibra, Durrës, Elbasan... Yes. Capo of the mafia" - says Ahmetaj in the confession for RAI3.

Meanwhile, the journalist then asked the prime minister himself about the connections with Ergys Agas. Rama did not give a clear answer to the case in question, avoiding the question about the mysterious businessman.

Rai3: Yes, the Albanian media also talk about Agas as the shadow man of your government. Is it so or not?

Rama: No. Albanian media do not differentiate. Between "Report" and its counterpart in Albania, I choose Report. I mean, for me the repugnance of the Report is honey compared to the repugnance of your counterpart here in Albania. Albanian media is not an argument for this. When I talk to you, since you mentioned architects, I talk to someone who represents the category that, let's say, was created by Montanelli, not the category created by Enver Hoxha.
