Alesia Balliu on the 'Të Pashoj' podcast said that she came out against Sali Berisha for the fact that he did not act in accordance with what he declared.
Balliu said that he always stands by the truth, adding that he told Sali Berisha to his face that he had a list of losers in the May 11 elections. Balliu even revealed what the democratic leader told him 20 minutes before the meeting of the DP Presidency, before the list of candidates for MPs was approved.
You have everything with the positions with an ex in front, are you in open war or...?
Alesia Balliu: I am fighting for the truth and I will always stand by it.
What made you come out against Sali Berisha, since you were attached to his group?
Alesia Balliu: The principle for democracy was the principle for the DP to move forward. One of the reasons I supported Berisha during the speeches was because I was tired of Lulzim Basha's losses. Berisha promised the unification of the DP, but he did it with allies and Meta and not with the Democrats. The primaries process was a facade, it became the opposite of what Berisha had promised on the podium. Berisha said different things on the podium and his actions were different. That's why I opposed him.
Have you spoken directly to Sali Berisha?
Alesia Balliu: I spoke personally with Berisha, I told him 20 minutes before the Presidency meeting that this is a list of losers. He told me "Alesia, don't worry, we will win". I don't know who whispered it in his ear, although it is known. I told Berisha in the office that the result in Elbasan would be 10 to 4 and that's what it turned out to be.
Have you spoken to other Democrats, so that you are not alone in this fight?
Alesia Balliu: I spoke with Tomor Alizoti, the political leader of the Elbasan Region. I told him my objections to the list. He openly said that this is not my list. Alizoti was not involved in the bargaining. He said at the Presidency meeting that 'this was not my list'. I maintained my position, I spoke with the political leader.
