Lulzim Basha has left the majority in the mud as far as the law on salary increases for members of the Constituent Assembly is concerned. The law has been postponed again today, not finding the way of approval.

SP tried to pass it last Thursday, but could not secure 84 votes and the draft was postponed until today, but again the quorum was not secured. Basha declared to the media last week that he will vote for the salary increase, but it seems that he has changed his mind. He and his deputies ran away from the session and the SP cannot pass the draft with its votes.

It was Jorida Tabaku and Gazmet Bardhi who criticized the law and demanded that it not be approved today. They asked for its revision, since according to them, they cannot have higher salaries than SPAK members.

" We are not against any law that increases efficiency, on the contrary, we are in a working group where we have been working for several months on a package of changes in the reform laws in justice, in cooperation with partners. We have agreed that we will not accept any change that is required for additional privileges or benefits of judges or prosecutors, but we will focus on efficiency ," said Bardhi.

For his part, the deputy chairman of the SP parliamentary group, Toni Gogu, said that the SP agrees to postpone this draft law for another session.

" The Constitutional Court has followed the procedure, so today we bring this proposal, but we fully agree to postpone it to another session. The Constitutional Court did this when we adopted the law on salaries. Constitutional judges have always been the best paid because of the work, because they guarantee the rule of law in this country. The Constitutional Court is not a court of the judicial system, the opposition MPs know this very well because it ensures that human rights and due process of law are respected as the Constitution says ," he said.

The draft law drawn up by the Ministry of Justice, with the proposal of the Constitutional Court itself, provides that the salary of a constitutional judge will be around 644 thousand ALL, while that of the president of this court in the amount of around 773 thousand ALL.
