The head of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, presented today the proposals of the Democratic Party for the electoral reform in the country.
During his speech, Basha expressed the six proposals of the Democratic Party, among which he mentioned open lists, vetting for politicians and equality of votes.
Basha said that for DP, this is not only an opportunity to deal with the problems caused by contested elections, but also an opportunity to expand the horizon towards a new constitution.
The head of the democrats continued by adding that the DP also proposes the vote of the diaspora, the election of the President of the Republic by the people and his return as a guarantor of the Constitution, as well as the end of immunity from criminal prosecution for parliamentarians and governors who are investigated from SPAK.
"The direct election of the President by the people and the return of the powers that were taken away from you in April. This is the focus of DP, as is the removal of the parliamentary immunity of all those who are under investigation by SPAK. Today cannot be a conclusion but an invitation for everyone to be for the people, in front of the people and with the people," said Basha.
