The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, stated that the government is advancing the process of integration into the European Union through corrupt lobbying and not on the basis of standards set by the EU.
He made these comments from outside the Parliament, during a communication with journalists.
Berisha demanded that European institutions react and denounce, according to him, this way of acting by the majority. He also rejected the accusations against the opposition, which according to the government is hindering integration, emphasizing that denouncing affairs is an obligation to citizens.
According to him, unlike other countries that are in the negotiation process and inform the public after every development, Albania lacks transparency in meetings and decision-making related to integration.
"Albania is the only country that negotiates based on corrupt lobbying and not on the fundamental principles set by the EU for integration. With its corrupt lobbying, it manages to completely exclude Albanians from the integration process. If Serbs and Macedonians receive accurate information after every meeting in Brussels, the Albanian government does not publish even a single word in those meetings that decide the fate of the integration of all Albanians. If in all the surrounding countries you have not heard the IBAR report, the opposition finds out through its friends at the COELA meetings that the government does not give any notice.
It is not a closed process within the representatives of the member states, the Albanian representative participates in it, who undertakes not to say a single word to his country except to the prime minister and his minister. Albania does not base the integration process on inclusiveness but on shameful corrupt lobbies. I call on the EC, the EU, and the member states to denounce this shameful practice. No other country follows and accuses the opposition for the speeches in Strasbourg and the demands it presents,” said Berisha.
