The Democratic Party will conduct the next campaign under the conditions when its leader Sali Berisha is in isolation, as SPAK officially communicated the accusation of passive corruption to him a day ago.
But how will the political battle of the largest opposition force in the country develop? Deputy Ervin Salianji, in a live link for the news edition on Vizion Plus, said that PD will continue its battle, to guarantee free and fair elections and lead the country to a technical government.
But when Berisha himself showed interest in his candidacy for prime minister, Salianji said that this is his right, since the democrats have chosen him as the leader of the DP. He further drew a parallel with 1997, saying that Fatos Nano also became prime minister as soon as he was released from prison.
Salianji further commented on Rama's decision on the closed lists.
- The Democratic Party is in a new phase after the indictment of its leader, Berisha: how will you conduct political battles under these conditions?
There is no new condition. We are in the same conditions and the circumstances should have been different. Berisha should have been investigated in a free state and not in solitary confinement. There is an illegality in Berisha's decision. DP has been operating under these conditions, with its leader isolated, and will continue in this way to guarantee free and fair elections and the transition to a technical government.
-Mr. Berisha said yesterday that he sees himself as a candidate for prime minister: in the conditions where he will be accused of corruption, does this damage the opposition's campaign?
There are dozens of cases in the world that candidates for prime minister have isolation measures, but they were for political reasons. In 1997 it was the case of Nano and he became prime minister as soon as he got out of prison. There is no question that Berisha has the right to be a candidate for prime minister because he was voted as the leader of the DP.
- The Socialists have placed the main political figures not in the safe places on the list: is this a challenge to the Democratic Party as well?
No, this is a challenge to SP because they are puppets that serve Rama. Rama decides to close the lists. He wants to install anonymous figures and they will compete to be Rama's guardians when he loses.
- Are you personally for or against primaries in the selection of candidates for MP?
Edi Rama says that I will select people that I do not know. The application will be made on the portal and the other model is ours, which will have an election from the Democratic Party structure that are sympathizers. These are two models.
