The Greek media write that the Greek government will pay close attention to the messages that the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, will give before the meeting that he will hold with the Albanian diaspora in Athens on May 12.
Cnn.gr points out that the visit of the Albanian Prime Minister is private, and its holding on May 12 is not a coincidence as it coincides with the anniversary of Fredi Beleri's arrest.
The Greek media continues in its article underlining that Rama's visit to Athens has caused great concern among government staff, including Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, while Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis pointed out that his visit is premature. However, he added that Greece will not stand in his way.
Speaking to SKAI on Friday, Greek government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis described Rama's visit as private.
"The government has not invited Mr. Rama", he said among other things to underline: "Of course we will respond if there is any reason to respond".
When asked what will happen if the topic of Beler is mentioned, the Greek government spokesman said:
"It is not our duty to interpret the intentionality of Edi Rama, nor to argue against an alleged intentionality. It is our duty with our actions, not with beautiful words, to show respect for the rule of law and that we have a lot of right on our side and we are not afraid of it," he underlined.
We recall that in the interview that Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis gave on Wednesday, he emphasized that Prime Minister Rama is not a guest of the government during his visit to Athens.
"It is his right, a choice that seems unnecessary to me," said Mitsotakis.
