The deputy of the Democratic Party, Albana Vokshi, has commented on the latest developments regarding the accusation of corruption against former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
Vokshi said that Berisha discussed with legal experts and came to the conclusion that the violation of the Constitution cannot be allowed.
She said that the democrats requested the removal of the immunity for the deputies, but it was the government of Edi Rama that did not approve it.
According to her, this is a political file and has nothing to do with Sali Berisha as an individual, but with Sali Berisha as the leader of the opposition.
"We discussed together with the legal experts and MPs who worked on the drafting of the Constitution and we were of the opinion that the violation of the Constitution cannot be allowed. We are in a dictatorship. I personally would not accept such a decision.
We have asked for the removal of immunity for MPs and Edi Rama did not want it. Well, we will implement the Constitution. This is a political file, it has nothing to do with Sali Berisha as a citizen, but as the head of the opposition that is engaging the latter" , said Vokshi to "News 24".
