From publicly defending the KLA to attacking the states that fund the Special Tribunal, the Albanian prime minister clashes with the main sponsor of justice in Kosovo and the strongest supporter of SPAK.
Edi Rama's attack on the countries that finance the Special Court for War Crimes marks a new escalation in relations with Berlin. At a time when Germany strongly supports SPAK and holds a central role in the institutional architecture of Kosovo and Bosnia, Rama's statements are read as a direct political clash. His absence from the Munich Security Conference and the apparent rapprochement with the Trump administration increase suspicions of a strategic shift, which could have heavy diplomatic costs for Tirana.
Edi Rama has used public discourse in defense of Hashim Thaçi and other KLA leaders since the beginning of their arrest.
With clear objectives: rebuilding the public image after the failure of the "Open Balkans" and politically striking Albin Kurti for not winning a third term.
The result was a political disaster for Edi Rama. Albin Kurti won again, even more convincingly than in 2021, while the Special Court Prosecution requested 45 years in prison for Thaçi and the others.
This situation has thrown Rama out of his usual balance. In his latest podcast, he openly attacked official Berlin.
Commenting on the pretension towards Thaçi and others, Rama did not stop at the prosecutors, but went towards the sponsors of the Special Tribunal.
"That kind of prosecution failed to bring even a single piece of evidence to support this cruel request after almost six years of investigations, supported by a chain of democratic states that should feel ashamed of such a charade. This is not a shame for a few prosecutors, but for the states that support and finance that court," Rama said.
To put it more clearly, the Albanian Prime Minister placed a stain of shame on the states that finance the Tribunal.
But anyone who knows the developments knows well, especially Edi Rama, who has access to detailed information, that the international administration in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the one in Kosovo, as well as the Special Tribunal for War Crimes in Kosovo, are financed to a considerable extent by Germany.
Germany has taken on this role to support its central position in Balkan political developments.
For years, Berlin's reference figure in the Albanian space has been Albin Kurti. His relations with Germany are close. Kosovo has been visited twice by German chancellors, which is unusual for the region.
Germany's problems with Edi Rama's government are not simply political, but also related to issues of corruption and abuse of funds.
Germany is today one of SPAK's strongest supporters. In this context, the advancement of investigations towards the Prime Minister's office is not disconnected from the strong support that Berlin gives to justice reform.
Several German institutional reports have highlighted that the Albanian government has bypassed German companies in large public contracts and has delayed projects funded by Berlin.
Edi Rama's absence from the Munich Security Conference does not seem accidental. German authorities had contacts with important representatives of the Albanian government, including Taulant Balla and Defense Minister Vengu.
Meanwhile, from other Balkan countries, heads of state and government were present: Albin Kurti, Aleksandar Vučić, the Montenegrin president and others.
In this clash with Berlin, Rama seems to be trying to compensate by getting closer to the Trump administration, which explains the invitation to the "Peace Board" and Ivanka Trump's visit.

Kryeministër për në Uashington mos i bier nga Berlini, se do të gjej si Thaçin. Por kujdes! Edhe në Uashington mund të gjej si Mekgonigal.
Zotërinj te Pamfletit, Ju lumtë qe denonconi veprimet e Rames kundër vendit, ketu jeni shume korrekt. Por, te gjeopolitika, shpesh ja huqni. Sepse po te mos ishte SHBA, sa për Europen dhe Gjermanin, regjimi i Millosheviqit kurr nuk do te bombardohet dhe ne sot do te ishim ebdr nen shkjaun. Mbani ne mend kete , si vathin ne vesh! Prandaj, vetem SHBA esgte aleati ynë i vërtet.
Nuk i rruhet hiç per Berlin e Bruksel. Neser shpall veten dhe ministrat te paprekshem dhe per fundjave shkon te Bordi i Trapit vajzen se te cilit i fali Sazan e Zvernec. Ivanka=Argita=Shkelzen=Ajola=Monika etj
Te sillet si te doje Rama apo kushdo kryeminister, Shqiperia do mbetet nje vend i vogel i pa perfillshem e qe nuk mundet te beje nje shtet fuksional. Shqiperia u krijua nga fuqite e medha per te qene nje shtet i deshtuar qe varet nga ndihmat e fuqive te medha.
Ramsi është dreqi i zi që vetëm syzet i ka me skelet të kuq.Është prototipi i të ashtuquajturit intelektual gjysmak,dhe nuk është as çerek intelektuali.Është një lavire diktaturac e pashoqe në historinë e Shqipërisë.Kërcen nga dega në degë,për show të fytyrës së tij,për t'u paraqitur në publik,sepse ndryshe kush do mendonte që ky kameleon i pacipë e i pa aftë totalisht, që mendon vetëm për karrierën e vet dhe atdheun e ka si plehu poshtë këmbëve,ndryshe kush do kujtohej se ky paçavure ekziston...????????????????????
