Has Babloku begun to understand that the Americans have begun to act after SPAK?
Prime Minister Edi Rama has clearly shown that he is beginning to worry about what is brewing behind the scenes.
SPAK has gone to the head of government's door and there are many voices saying that the Americans are behind the prosecution. However, Rama's reaction today at the end-of-year conference has increased suspicions that the head of government has begun to be concerned by these voices.
While talking about corruption, where it should be noted that the US State Department blackmails the government in every report, Rama exploded with accusations: " To say that Albania is the most corrupt country in the world, that this was said by an animal in Washington, this is very spectacular and therefore very credible. But it is untrue ."
According to him, this is a classic example of modern slander: “ You give a half-truth, you twist a story around, and because of this half-truth, the whole story seems credible. People tend to believe bad things much more quickly than good things .”
This outburst by Rama shows that he is starting to get scared. Since Trump came to power, Rama has not set foot in Washington and has not had any meetings with high-ranking officials. Even the envoy for the Balkans, when he came to Tirana, avoided the prime minister. So the signals coming from across the Atlantic are not positive at all and Babloku has started to understand it.
At the press conference, he attempted to justify the government's scandals. He defended several mayors, AKSHI, but also attacked SPAK for the accusations.
Similarly, he defended the former director of the Public Procurement Agency, Jonaid Myzyri, calling him “a gold medal personality,” and stating that Albania is “one of the region’s leaders in public procurement transparency,” according to a SIGMA report.
He then praised the work of the National Agency for the Protection of the Interior, which is also the focus of investigations, listing savings of hundreds of millions of euros and millions of documents generated on the e-Albania platform. According to him, this institution is “a cause for pride, not shame.”
He avoided any responsibility for the situations created from within the administration, focusing on a positive balance: " This year is Albania's most successful year. This majority brought it, not time. Albania has opened all chapters of negotiations with the EU. All of Europe has gathered in Skanderbeg Square. They came here not for a corrupt country ."
Faced with opposition demands for resignation, a technical government or early elections, Rama was blunt: " What is this talk, will I resign? We won 83 mandates in June, or have you forgotten? "
Instead of reflecting on scandals and investigations, Rama's conference focused on a one-sided narrative of achievements, minimizing political responsibility and glossing over the hot issues of the year, from incinerators to tenders and investigations against senior officials. SPAK duhet te ngrej zyre ne Rinas, se aty do sulen te tere. Eshte bande e madhe.
