Prime Minister Edi Rama commented on the situation in Vlora, where the people of Vlora were left without drinking water for 5 days, while the problem was fixed at midnight.
At the end-of-year conference, Rama did not accept the fact that the municipality of Vlora was not concerned about the problems of broken pipes but were interested in holding end-of-year parties and shows.
It was the citizens of Vlorë who gathered in a rally and disrupted the municipality's performance. The next day they continued with protests and clashed with the police while also threatening Rama's government.
After fixing the defect, Rama attempted to find the culprit, saying that the pipeline broke as a result of installations made in 2009-2010, with substandard plumbing equipment.
"The situation was very serious. The equipment was out of standards, which kept breaking, bursting, This is the problem of the water supply. But thanks to the extraordinary work of the workers there and the attitude of the prefect and the workers there, thanks to the fact that we were able to get the equipment from Turkey, the defect was repaired. The water supply in Vlora and throughout Albania is a sector under reform. I will ask for patience. We have found it worse than energy. With the changes we have made, with the new system we have created, it will continue to improve," he said.
