SP MP Lavdrim Krashi advised the heads of the 61 municipalities that were elected on May 14 that everyone should learn from the arrest of Vangjush Dako.
In an interview for Report TV, Krashi said that the mayors are guardians of the people's money while adding that it is unfortunate that the mayors act as a unit and think they can do what they want and when they want.
"It is very important that finally events are happening in Albania that could not be imagined 3-5 or 10 years ago. It seems that he has been an important political figure of the SP for many years. The day has finally come that there are no people who are immune to the justice system. It is a pity that the mayors seem to be the same, they can do what they want, when they want. While the citizens elect them. I hope that the 61 mayors learn from what is happening in Dako. This new justice, with the insistence of the international community, is finally working and I hope that it will go to the end", said Krashi.
While the lawyer Redi Ramaj has stated that the mayors should not mismanage citizens' money or face justice and they cannot do whatever they want.
"I hope that SPAK and every other body will go beyond politics. Albania needs politicians who say that theft is a shame. Sometimes we lose track of why duty is abused in the ways we all suffer. Abuse of duty is not considered a dangerous criminal offense. The mayors must know that they are facing the citizens. The mayors have a lot of power, they do whatever they want," said Ramaj.
