SPAK's request, Rama reacts to Balluku: The position on 'limiting
Edi Rama and Belinda Balluku

Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted on social media regarding the meeting of the Socialist Parliamentary Group, where SPAK's request will be reviewed regarding what the Head of Government considers a "restriction of freedom" for Belinda Balluku, former Deputy Prime Minister and former Minister of Infrastructure.

From what Rama has posted on 'X', it is known that the meeting of the SP Parliamentary Group will be open, while the Prime Minister is also expected to give a speech.

" Today at 10:00 we will be "live" in the Parliamentary Group to take a position on the prosecutor's request to restrict Belinda Balluku's freedom ," Rama writes.

SPAK requested authorization from the Parliament in December to arrest Balluk, while previously the GJKKO, based on the request of the Special Prosecution, decided to suspend her from government functions. This decision caused a clash between the Prime Minister on one side and SPAK and GJKKO on the other.

The Prime Minister expressed strong criticism towards SPAK and GJKKO and addressed the Constitutional Court to resolve the dispute regarding the powers to dismiss a member of the government. Rama considered it a constitutional violation that the Court could suspend a minister, who enjoyed immunity as much as an MP, from office without first obtaining authorization. The Constitutional Court was unable to come up with a decision because the members of the Constitutional Court were divided 4 to 4 regarding the request.

Under these conditions, Balluk's suspension remained in force, but at the same time SPAK had requested from the Assembly authorization to impose an arrest measure against her. It is expected that the Assembly will vote in the session of March 12 whether or not it will support SPAK for the arrest of Balluk, while the opposition, in the meeting of the Council of Mandates and Immunities, has expressed agreement regarding the submitted request. /Pamphlet/
