Today it seems that the political fate of Sali Berisha will be decided...
The Council of Mandates for Regulation, Mandates and Immunity meets today, at 12:00, to consider the request of the Special Prosecution Against Corruption and Organized Crime for the authorization by the Assembly for the arrest/removal of the freedom of MP Sali Berisha.
It is not known whether Berisha will be in front of the socialists and SPAK prosecutors today, or whether he will be represented by his lawyers at this meeting.
On the same day is the date of Berisha's appearance before the judicial police officer, a decision which he refused three times.
In the letter addressed to the Assembly, on December 12, SPAK argues that the former prime minister did not implement the court's decision by never appearing before the judicial police officer/investigator.
It remains to be seen if the decision to arrest Berisha will be taken only with the votes of the 5 socialists, or if they will be joined by Lulzim Basha's representative in this council, Enkelejd Alibeaj. Meanwhile, the presence of other democratic members in this meeting, who are part of the opposition action in the Assembly such as Gazment Bardhi, Greta Bardeli, Ervin Salianji and Saimir Korreshi, is in question.
Meanwhile, parallel to this development, in front of the Presidency of the Assembly, Re-establishment has called a protest, which Sali Berisha himself refuses to call a call in his defense.
"We don't protest about the person, but we protest strictly about the coup within the state that Edi Rama is doing by taking over the power of the parliament. These protests will be non-stop now. There is no other solution", says Berisha.
For the rally called by the democrats, the police stations will be ready today for its success. The Directorate of Police of Tirana has drawn up a plan of measures with an increased presence of law enforcement officers in the perimeter where the protest will be held.
In parallel with these developments, 28 deputies of the DP parliamentary group, as they consider the measure given by SPAK to Sali Berisha as a violation of the fundamental law of the state and a politically dictated decision, appealed to the Constitutional Court a few days ago. asking the black troops to suspend the coercive measures against the former prime minister and the interpretation of article 73 of the Constitution, point 2 thereof.
The protest will continue on Thursday, when the authorization for the arrest of the former prime minister will probably be voted on in the plenary session, if the socialists do not rush to call a special session first.
Even in the voting session, the question mark is the opposition's vote, in the conditions where the SP has confirmed the vote in favor, the official DP has expressed itself in favor through statements, but without clarifying the presence in the session, while the deputies of Berisha and Bardhi have conditioned the vote on meeting the requirements of them in parliament.
In the meantime, in order to escape arrest, Berisha has also turned his eyes to the Constitutional Court, to which he requests the annulment of the first decision of the GJKKO and the suspension of all others that derive from it, in the conditions where due to the obligation to appear requested authorization from the Assembly.
