The chairman of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, reacted again today to the construction of the 58-story tower in the flower garden behind the Opera and Ballet Theater.
In a reaction on social networks, he says that the DP will react every time the 33-year-old caste will come together as two hands "that wash the faces blackened by corruption".
"The mountain of corruption in the center of Tirana, covered by the "omertà" of mafia complicity, is an insult to all the institutions that have the task of not allowing Albania to turn into a paradise for money launderers and their friends in politics and on the other hand, it transforms our country into a hell of dishonesty and impunity for citizens who seek European standards to build their lives and their families.
This "omertà", this code of silence, produces a deformed economy, which does not reflect normal market forces, which cripples competition, free initiative, trust in institutions, which are seen as legitimizing crime and corruption.
Our duty as a Democratic Party is to defeat this deafening silence that harms the public interest, whenever the interests of the 33-year-old caste come together like two hands washing the faces blackened by corruption.
Therefore, today I want to repeat my support and that of the Democratic Party to SPAK, which bears the heavy burden of investigating and punishing all those who have turned Albania into a money-laundering machine, which not only harms the economy , but also heritage, historical memory, public space, turned into loot for very few people.
"Purification of politics through vetting is necessary to end the era of corruption, so that politicians are not at the service of oligarchs and criminal interests, but serve citizens and the public interest," says Basha.
